Markers of a recovery room scheme
A recovery room scheme is a second approach that arrives after money is already stuck. It offers to recover the funds for an upfront fee, often citing contacts with regulators, exchanges, or courts. The markers below come from public regulator warnings, not from case experience. They describe the pattern, not any particular company.
Markers
Regulators in several jurisdictions have published overlapping descriptions of this pattern. The FBI's advisory on fraudulent law firms (I-081325-PSA, updating two earlier notices back to 2023) describes fake legal letterheads and invented bar numbers used to solicit fees from people who already lost money. The FCA maintains a standing warning page on recovery room scams, last updated 19 January 2026. NASAA's Informed Investor Advisory on crypto recovery rooms describes near-identical scripts used across the US and Canada. Belgium's FSMA has named seven companies publicly and flagged the risk of double victimization, where the same person is defrauded twice.
- Contact initiated by the scheme, not by the investor, shortly after a loss becomes visible online.
- A fee requested before any document is reviewed.
- Claims of direct contact with banks, exchanges, or police to freeze or trace funds.
- No verifiable registration in the jurisdiction where the firm claims to operate.
- Pressure to act within days, framed as a closing window.
How to check any firm
These checks can be done before paying anyone.
- Search the firm's name against the regulator warning lists cited above, and against the equivalent list in your own jurisdiction.
- Ask for the firm's registration number and confirm it against the relevant company or bar registry directly, not through a link the firm sends.
- Check whether a fee is requested before the file has been reviewed at all. That sequence alone is a marker.
- Check whether the firm names a specific court or authority as certain to have jurisdiction before seeing your documents. Competent authority is determined by applicable procedural rules, not by assertion.
- Check the physical address given. A registered office that cannot be independently confirmed is a gap, not a detail.
Check us by the same criteria
Run these same checks against this firm. What this practice does not do is described separately, without qualification, at what we do not do. No fee is requested before a file is reviewed. No claim is made about contacts inside a bank, an exchange, or a police unit. No outcome is promised in numbers or in words. The same public sources cited above, FBI, FCA, NASAA, FSMA, are the ones worth checking against any firm approaching you now, including this one.
