The firm

Ines Baumgartner

Ines Baumgartner works on files where a fund, exchange or counterparty has stopped paying out on a private investment. Her role is to take the client's documents, establish what actually happened, and set out how the matter can be pursued through the applicable procedure.

How the work looks

A file usually starts with paper: subscription agreements, account statements, the correspondence around the point payment stopped. She goes through this material to establish what was promised, what changed, and what the counterparty has said in writing. That reading determines whether the matter is a contractual dispute, a proprietary claim, or something that depends on facts not yet in the file.

Where the counterparty or the assets sit outside the client's home jurisdiction, she works alongside local counsel to place the claim with the right procedure and to keep the evidence usable once it gets there. This is the same groundwork covered in the firm's work on refusal cases: establishing the record before deciding what to file, and where.
